Writing Metrics for November 16-17, 2010

Because I've had a migraine headache since Tuesday, I've gotten no words written in the past two days. It's been difficult enough to try to get various household tasks accomplished. I did manage to get to my film class Tuesday night, in which we saw Babette's Feast. I'd never seen this wonderful movie before, and I'm glad I had the opportunity to see it in the company of a bunch of really well-educated-about-film people.

I have obtained author and screenwriter Ron Hansen's permission to audit his course in screenwriting next quarter. I am so excited about this I can hardly contain myself. I've been mulling over ideas ever since.

My reading doesn't stop even when I've got a headache; in fact, it's about the only thing that keeps me sane and that can sometimes keep my mind off the pain. I've read about 100 pages per day the past two days, mostly in bed while waiting for the Extra-Strength Tylenol to kick in and at least make me sleepy enough to doze through the pain. I've been reading The Cradle by Patrick Somerville for my reading group, mostly -- and then had to skip the group this morning because of the damned headache. I don't think too highly of this book, I confess; my thoughts at length, as usual, once I've finished it.
