Writing Metrics for September 28, 2011

I wrote 831 words yesterday. Let's see if I can keep this up for long enough to develop it into a habit.

I finished reading Jim Butcher's first Dresden Files novel, Storm Front. It felt like Butcher wasn't quite sure of his character yet, so that he mixed noir drama with a weird and -- to my mind -- unsuccessful attempt at humor. I'll read the next in the series to see how he develops his character as he goes along, but unless this series improves rapidly, I'm unlikely to stick with it.

I got to the Sacramento Central Library yesterday, and I was disappointed. I need to keep a close watch on where the books I'm asking be held for me come from (that is, what branch), and see if there's one branch that seems to specialize in SF/F/H. That's what I did in our last home county; maybe I'll get lucky here, too.

And here's a lousy idea: parking immediately outside the library is for a maximum of 30 minutes only. What city genuis thought that one up?!

30 minutes
