Writing Metrics for August 8 through August 13, 2011

This has been a scheduled outage for Writing Metrics. Fred and I were in Las Vegas from the 9th through the 12th, feeding the penny slots, eating extremely well (I highly recommend B&B Ristorante), sleeping quite a bit and generally recovering from the past several months of mostly unremitting work. As often happens with me and vacations, I was up until 4:00 a.m. the night before we left, getting answers to discovery drafted and accomplishing various other legal chores.

I came home to 250+ emails on my personal email account, and I've been too frightened to check the firm's website yet, but that's coming soon.

I got surprisingly little reading done, to my dismay; too tired to read is really just plain too tired. I didn't finish a single novel.

So it's back to the new normal, with an attempt to schedule my writing and exercise into and around my work, instead of letting the work consume me. That's much easier said than done, so please wish me luck.

Your new regularly scheduled life.

Welcome back and good luck. Does coming home from this vacation feel like 'home' or are you still adjusting to the new house?

Feels like home

Our new house already feels like home, even to the cat (who was very angry that after all the other change we'd thrown at her, we added time in a new cat hotel while we were gone). Unfortunately, coming home from vacation does seem to erase the rest of the vacation these days, given how the work piles up in my absence.
