Writing Metrics for July 30 through August 1, 2011

I try; truly, I try. But when I'm preparing to be out of town for a day and half arguing motions, not to mention to get away for a weekend in Las Vegas, the first thing that gets jettisoned from the list of things that must be done is the writing. Legal work pretty much takes over all waking moments (and many sleeping moments, as I have nightmares about missed deadlines). And so I've done no writing the past three days.

I did start reading Kat Richardson's Downpour, the sixth of her Greywalker novels, and so far, it seems pretty good. Unfortunately, reading is the second thing that gets crossed off the list of things that must be done, so I haven't been able to spend a lot of time perusing this promising novel. I haven't even had time to browse through the new Locus, and that's saying something, because I usually jump on that publication the moment it comes in the door.

Fred promised me over a decade ago that he would slow the rotation of the earth in order to give me more time to read. So far he hasn't managed more than a microsecond or two. I think it's time I started cracking the whip, don't you?
