Writing Metrics for February 18-20, 2011

As is becoming usual, I did no writing on Friday and Saturday. Well, that's not quite accurate; I did a chunk of legal writing on Friday. But I really redeemed myself on Sunday by writing 1,231 words -- again, as per usual.

I've been reading bits and pieces of a number of different things. I've read a few stories in Crossed Genres, an interesting online magazine, and about half of the latest issue of Bull Spec, which is available both online and in print -- I recommend getting the print edition unless your reader translates a PDF better than my Kindle does. I also read a wonderful story by George R.R. Martin in John Joseph Adams's anthology The Way of the Wizard. My novel time is being divided between Ekaterina Sedia's The House of Discarded Dreams and Louise Marley's Mozart's Blood. So much great stuff to read!

I'll never be Content

I'm insanely jealous that you're reading Sedia and Way of the Wizard. I don't know if that means I'm not happy with what I'm reading or just always eager to get to the next great book.

Always reading

I know exactly what you mean! I have 48 books out from the library (of which the Sedia is one) even though I have thousands of my own books that I haven't gotten to yet, many of which I need to review.

The Sedia is very strange, and I'm not sure yet whether I like it or hate it. It should remind me of Valente's Palimpsest -- it's got the same sort of wild imagining -- but I think because the imagination at work comes from a different culture (Africa), it doesn't resonate with me as well. But I'm sure not going to stop reading -- I have to find out what happens!
