Review of The Dragon DelaSangre by Alan F. Troop

My review of Alan F. Troop's The Dragon Delasangre is up at Fantasy Literature. While I enjoyed the different depiction of a dragon -- here a fairly unique character -- I thought that Troop's ideas outstripped his writing ability. MAybe the sequels are better, but unless I stumble across one in the library, I'm unlikely to read them.

Better ideas than writing

I think that can be fixed. There are many poor writers that don't have anything interesting to write about; add their quality into the mix and you get pain...

People can learn to write better so perhaps there is hope. There could be worse problems.

That's true

And it might be rather interesting to read the additional volumes in this series and see how Troop grows as a writer. But there are so many things to read, and so little time -- and this book just doesn't tempt me enough to make the investment in both time and money to read the other volumes. Maybe someday, if I run out of other things to read. (Like that will ever happen!)
