2009 Philip K. Dick Award Winners

From a shortlist of the following books:

Bitter Angels by C. L. Anderson
The Prisoner by Carlos J. Cortes
Repo Men by Eric Garcia (originally published as The Repossession Mambo, but apparently retitled in light of the recent movie)
The Devil's Alphabet by Daryl Gregory
Cyberabad Days by Ian McDonald
Centuries Ago and Very Fast by Rebecca Ore
Prophets by S. Andrew Swann

The winner was announced at Norwescon on April 2, 2010. The winning book is Bitter Angels by C.L. Anderson. A special citation was awarded to Cyberabad Days by Ian McDonald.

Of these books, I've recently finished Cyberabad Days, and found it excellent; I hope to have a review up this week. I've got the other books in hand, and will probably be reviewing them as time goes on. I'm now very eager to read Bitter Angels, because if it's better than Cyberabad Days, it must be very good indeed. I've also recently read Rebecca Ore's Centuries Ago and Very Fast, which I found, um, well, unusual; more on that soon.

And remember: this is one where playing along won't break your budget. The Philip K. Dick Award is awarded to the best original paperback published in the last year, so every one of these books is available in that format. Four of the six are mass market paperbacks costing no more than $7.99. So go for it!
